1. Atomic Liquors

Downtown Las Vegas is home to some of the best bars and restaurants. A historic location that you don’t want to miss is Atomic Liquors. One of the oldest bars in town. Their liquor license dates back to 1952 their origin story is nothing short of amazing. It’s a rooftop bar that’s got stunning views, a mouthwatering menu, and a variety of beers on tap. The newest owners of this bar have done the work to restore the location to its natural beauty and is a must see.

Atomic Liquours was originally opened as “Virgina’s Cafe,” a cafe named after one of the original business moguls of the city in the 1920’s, Virginia Sobchik. Already owning a few businesses in Las Vegas, she decided to give this business to her daughter Stella and her husband Joe. The cafe soon caught the eye of celebrities like Clint Eastwood, Barbara Streisand, and the Rat Pack who became regulars of the establishment. If you’re looking for more than ‘just a bar,’ stop in to take in the story and rich history of an important location of downtown Las Vegas. 2. Mob Museum Distillery

Next up on the list is one of Vegas’ more unique locations. It’s underneath the Mob Museum, the museum of organized crime. Spend your day learning about the early days of Las Vegas and hearing the facts of all those stories about Mob influence within the city’s early days. Multiple stories of artifacts and history are shared through the building along with additional experiences you can purchase. The building itself is part of the museum’s appeal as it was built back in 1933. It’s been used as the city’s main post office and even as a federal courtroom for notable cases like the Kefauver Committee hearing.

Just underneath this collection of artifacts is an underground speakeasy and distillery called The Underground. This secret bar goes along with the theme of the museum and showcases fun facts about the roaring twenties, flappers, and gives off a very jazzy vibe. You enter through a secret passageway and once you see the magic of this place you’ll see why it’s like stepping into a time machine. Not only do they have hand crafted cocktails, they also have a distillery displayed for guests to sample some good ole moonshine. Great energy, great drinks, and to top it all off, this joint has live music to get you on the dance floor to show off your best Shimmy.

Come on down to The Underground!

Ranking the list at #3 is the Nerd bar, one of downtown’s more eccentric bars. Located inside Neonopolis, this bar definitely highlights the quirks of Las Vegas. It is “Nerd” themed, fully equipped with bowling lanes, billiards tables, video games, comic book decor, and a nice, big mechanical penis. That’s right, it’s a giant, gyrating mechanical bull ride in the shape of a penis that they advertise to guests. “Ride it, slide it, stay on top of the World Famous Gyrating Johnson Mechanical Member Bull ride.” If you want that one of a kind Vegas experience, come to the Nerd! This spot is a great way to break the norm! They have VIP tables, bottle service, and even a Barbie themed area that is excluded from the rest of the bar. But wait! There’s more…
